  • Standalone (not installed as plug-in or add-in),

One more to add to this list.....StarUML .... probably the best one among all the open source tools

  2. CB says:

You're right, it is another free & usable editor and may be involved in this list too. Thanks for your addition.

  3. Unknown says:

    Astah is pretty good too!

  4. CB says:

Astah is good but free version is lightweight, also login and registration is required to use.

  5. Bouml is much better than many paid tools. Unfortunately, due to a disagreement with wikipedia (license violation), as a protest, its creator decided to stop work on it.

Another great tool is Software Ideas Modeler (http://www.softwareideas.net).

  7. CB says:

Software Ideas Modeler user interface looks like EA (Enterprise Architect) and very successful. But there is a price for professional usage.
    Thanks for sharing.

  8. If talking about easy to use, free, easy to install, I'd 100% support Red Koda Community http://www.redkoda.com/download.php.

  9. CB says:

Red Koda is an easy to use and free tool. Thanks for addition.

  10. Great article, thanks.

On my blog I've just added few little indications for a "quick" choice in certain context (ie: Italian users)
